Piratenpartei, Dilettanten oder -onkels

Jeremie wird im Intervierw mit der Sueddeutschen (der Bürgerrechtler Zimmermann) wie folgt zitiert:

Meinen Sie die Piratenpartei? Da versammeln sich fast ausnahmslos Dilettanten, die weder Ahnung von Politik noch von den relevanten Fragen des Internets haben.

Ich will da gerne noch einen draufsetzen, die Show die Jeremie gerade mit La Quadrature zum G8 Gipfel macht, richtet sich selbst an Dilettanten. Das bedeutet freilich nicht, dass seine Aktivitäten ohne Sinn und Verstand sind im Sinne einer Organisationsbildung.

Hier noch eine Intervention von Jeremie bei Sarkozy’s eG8 show. Mich erinnert die ganze eG8 Veranstaltung an Gaddafis Koranlesungen vor jungen Hostessen in Italien. Es geht hier hauptsächlich um französische Innenpolitik, die Inszenierung des Staatschefs als besten Freund des Silicon Valley. Dass diese Firmen seine Politikvorschläge im Gegensatz zu Vivendi gar nicht unterstützen, nimmt der Wähler nicht wahr. Was auf dem eG8 Forum gesprochen wurde, ist gegenstandslos.

Ist der europäische Geist in Gefahr?

MdEP Martin Schulz (SPD) warnt vor einer Gefährdung “des europäischen Geistes”. Sein Kommentar scheint mir übertrieben pessimistisch und zu sehr der Tagespolitik verhaftet

Ein wenig Gelassenheit steht der Europäischen Union nicht schlecht an, nach der mit Tempo vollzogenen Europäischen Integration darf auch mal ein Schritt zurück oder zur Seite gewagt werden. Insbesondere sollte zunächst das demokratische Defizit der Union vermindert werden, welches bislang immer auf der Strecke blieb. Statt “mehr Europa” ist zunächst “mehr demokratisches Europa” und Konsolidierung gefragt.

Die Europäische Union braucht sich nicht ständig ihre Geschlossenheit nach außen versichern, denn das führt lediglich zu einer lächerlichen Erfüllungspolitik zugunsten von Drittstaaten.

Die außenpolitische Haltung der Bundesregierung in der Libyenfrage mag der Intuition widersprechen. Sie ist aber strategisch durchdacht. MdEP Martin Schulz dürfte verstehen wie allergisch die Anrainer auf eine Einmischung des Nordens in den Mittelmeerprozess reagieren. Die Haltung Deutschlands komplementiert die französisch-britische Linie und schafft der EU den Freiraum zum gemeinsamen Handeln in der Zukunft. Wie in einem Orchester wird nicht von allen europäischen Akteuren der gleiche Ton gespielt, aber im gemeinsamen Konzert erfreuen sie den Zuhörer.

Towards an EU security industry strategy

Counter-terrorism technologies have made encouraging advances, so now it’s the lack of more coherent EU-wide policies that is the problem. The time has come for EU member states to abandon competing national practises and devise common standards and a shared approach to research and innovation. Could public-private partnerships better develop the next generation of technologies, and if so, would that ensure that end-users get the right solutions at the right price? How can Europe foster greater interaction between technology developers and regulatory actors, and what forms of information exchange can aid this process? Is there a case for extending public research funding programmes to cover demonstration projects? Which of the various interested European Commission directorates should take the lead in determining and implementing a new EU security industry strategy?

How can the EU frame technology innovation, certification and liability rules? Can common capability requirements and criteria for the validation of security screening technologies be turned into competitive international standards?
