Italian MEP Patrizia Toia preannounces a parliament event for next month:
Wednesday 23 March 2011, European Parliament – Room ASP3G3, 17.00-19.00h
The European territories play a key role in the implementation of EU policies. Territories are also where the EU citizens live their daily life and where the strength of our society and economy is built.
One of the key factors of competitiveness and strength, in today’s world, is the availability of fast and ultrafast access to the Internet.
The presence of broadband not only makes personal communications easier, but empowers also a new, competitive way of doing business, of running public administrations or efficient healthcare systems.
The conference will discuss the role Regions, local communities and business in filling the “digital divide” and promoting the dissemination of high-speed Internet access across the EU. This comes at a time in which the debate on how to fill the gap between the EU, the US and other global competitors is warming up.
The program will be circulated soon.
Organized by Patrizia Toia, Vice President of ITRE Committee, European Parliament
