I get many Season’s greetings mails, here from the EU Commission’s AV Services:
We would rather wish you a Merry Christmas. I don’t know where the Season’s Greetings originates from but I don’t care much about pagan customs. Political correctness is pathetic, don’t you think? Mind what an End-of-Year-Wing-Figure told the rural population: Don’t be afraid…
I found an article from 1st Sept 2006. It said a suggestion from Angela Merkel for a God-reference in the EU-Constitution was well received in Brussels. “These are important contributions in a reflection process”, the spokes person of the Commission is quoted by dpa. A fantastic cynical joke for a community skilled in Eurochinese.
Commissioner Margot Wallström who does not greet the season but says goodbye, delivers a list of
…. few things I will NOT miss:
– breakfast meetings! People should be spared from having to meet me (or worse: listen to me) too early in the morning…
– arrogant cynics of whatever nationality…
– late night sessions about comitology in the European Parliament…
